Canon D30

Latest PowerShot D30 from Canon is a ruggedized and waterproof compact camera introduced to compete with Olympus Tough TG-3, Nikon Coolpix AW120, Ricoh WG-4 GPS and Panasonic Lumix FT5. To survive with these stunning cameras, Canon introduced new Powershot D30 incredibly tougher than the D20. It now enhanced with best-in-class 25 meter waterproof rating.

The camera's processor, lens and sensor specifications remain same with its predecessor, actually the new model have a slightly low RRP. Powershot D30 will enable you dive longer than any of its competitors, with its 25-metre rating stay this camera ahead in the competition. The camera's -10ºc freezeproofing and two-metre shockproofing are more distinctive stats, and unlike the Panasonic FT5, Olympus TG-3 and Ricoh WG-4, the Canon D30 does not have a crushproof rating.

The Powershot D30 is available only in blue color, is a bit of going from the previous D20. It best fits the structure motif of many rugged digital cameras, including the Olympus Tough TG-850, by puting its lens in the top edge than the middle of the camera body. Canon D30 measures 2.7 by 4.3 by weighs 7.7 ounces and 1.1 inches (HWD). That's perfect for this class of latest cameras.

The D30 might be similar in functionality with old D20, but its design given a great overhaul. Gone are the less, queerly buttons changed by comfortable controls which are accessible easily when wearing gloves or underwater. The new, big button for video recording has been placed to a more salient position on top edge of the camera, and the shutter is also big and nice.

With the enlarged and easily accessible buttons on the panel, Canon still has found gap for a grippy and large thumb rest. Separated with the equally prominent finger grip, the Canon D30 looks more secure in the palm than all. Its 12.1MP sensor trails the combat in incredible resolution; at low sensitivity it still able of solving nice detail levels in image. At ISO400 settings detail is distort with grain noise, but Canon has not conceal this with inordinate smoothing, despite subjects on distant don't display the elegnt look that's all very common with these kind of compact cameras.

The Powershot D30 survives under water and its latest overall design makes it one of best digital cameras to buy in 2015. However, its rivals will all must go with at least 14-metre depths, which will easily be enough deep for a typical point of recreational or snorkelling scuba diving.

The D30 also bring a case for itself with its GPS location tagging and bright LCD monitor, but unless you will use the Canon’s extra underwater utility, more feature-packed competitors like the Ricoh WG-4 GPS and Panasonic Lumix FT5 can be had for similar price and are better for all-rounders.
